Vicious packaging design for Texas based Copperhead Brewery and their new IPA 'Mongoose Slayer'.
Client: Copperhead Brewery, Texas.
Role: Branding, digital artist/illustrator.
Software used: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Dimension.
Brief & My Proposal
To create a striking design for Copperhead Brewery's new IPA 'Mongoose Slayer'. As with most of Copperhead's designs I like to take inspiration from the creative names of their beers. Sticking with the snake theme, a common element in all Copperhead's designs, I decided the King Cobra would be the main villian aka 'the mongoose slayer'. Depicting a vicious attack on the mongoose I hoped to do the title of the beer justice.
Colour palette & custom typography
Custom Handwritten Font
From initial sketch to finished render
I kept to the usual style I use for Copperhead's beers - colourful and enigmatic with a comic book flair. For the title of 'Mongoose Slayer' I created a custom font which would compliment the vicious design.
MONGOOSE SLAYER IS BIG, BOLD AND HOPPY. 9% AND 122 IBUS OF COLUMBUS, CITRA, AMARILLO AND MOSAIC HOPS.
3D Visuals in Adobe Dimension
Sometimes clients have a hard time visualizing how a design would look on the finished product. So I used Adobe Dimension to create a 3D mock up of how the label would look on the IPA cans. Copperhead Brewery were also interested in using the label design on a t-shirt, so I extended the artwork for use on t-shirts that they could sell in the brewery.
The outcome was a striking design that stands out on the shelves of the grocery stores in Texas. The design since has been used on Copperhead's t-shirts and glassware. To discover more about this beer and other tasty ones visit Copperhead Brewery's website here.
